The 2015 President's Meeting will this year focus on surgical oncology and will include a number of plenary lectures and contributions from all the Surgical Specialist Associations.

The 2015 President’s Meeting will this year focus on surgical oncology and will include a number of plenary lectures and contributions from all the Surgical Specialist Associations.  In addition the meeting will include the Annual Audit Symposium which will include the Surgeons in Training Session, Lister Session and a specialist session on topics related to oncology.

Aims and Objectives

To provide an update on contemporary management of various malignancies with a major focus on surgical treatments but with updates on oncological therapies.

The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh is delighted to bring together world renowned experts from the field of onocology. Exploring the theme of Oncology, our Lister Legacy Lecture will be given by Professor Arnold Hill (surgical advisor to the National Cancer Programme in Ireland) who will discuss ‘Centralisation of Cancer Services’ – the good and the bad’. Other highlights from this meeting include Professor Timothy Eberlein (Washington, USA), who will deliver the McKeown Lecture on ‘Delivering high quality cancer care in 2015’ and there will be a debate on ‘Surgical resection of Colorectal metastases is of proven benefit?’. With Professor Graeme Poston being for the motion and Professor Tom Treasure being against. The Specialty Association Symposia will run in parallel with the Annual Trainees’ Audit Symposium, and all trainees will have the opportunity to attend the plenary sessions’.
